Hylton Gudmanz

Legendary Spirited Optimist

Hylton’s passion for making a difference surfaced as his eyes were opened at a multi-cultural conference in Apartheid South Africa. There he realized how sheltered his life had been and that his experience had excluded vast amounts of truth.

He could not be the same and a lifelong quest for better ways began, leading him on adventures to bridge divides between diverse people groups within business and society. He represented South Africa at International Youth Village in Japan, where 18 nations gathered to learn from each other and has since worked in more than 20 nations, across 21 industries.

Having started his working career in Education, he was headhunted into business and retooled to equip leaders to sustain high performance with emotional intelligence and well-being. A Master’s degree in Leadership confirmed his path, and has continued to explore kinetic shifts: from knowing to being, being to doing, and from doing to lasting impact.

Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, Hylton travels wherever he and his fellow “Transformers” can equip leaders to focus on being clear, sharp, connected and adaptable.

Curious fact #1

Hylton attends and speaks at Women’s Development conferences, because he believes that some of the most valuable leadership conversations happen there. He also coaches speakers at TEDxLytteltonWomen, which amplifies the voice of African women.

Curious fact #2

While he loves the stage and plays drums in three local bands, Hylton is a confessed “bookworm”, consuming books and research voraciously, especially when on holiday. It earned him the nickname “Prof” when in school – and later from business school colleagues.
