As the year draws to a close, the GAIA Insights Team traditionally takes time to pause and reflect. Even though this year brought temporary economic relief for our company, it has also presented the world with continued challenges like the pandemic, climate change and human right violations (#women #life #freedom) as well as new upheavals like the war in Ukraine, inflation, food and energy crises, affecting millions of people around the world.
Ironically, it feels as if we are ending the year pretty much where we started it – in a place of extreme volatility for society and grueling uncertainty for us as an organization. Many people feel anxious about the future – we do not blame them. And yet, we choose to plant a seed.
To plant a seed is to believe in tomorrow.

Plant a Seed in Support of Tomorrow
Whatever you nurture will grow. Faith or fear. Bitterness or joy. Resignation or hope. Doubt or belief. It is your choice what grows! So find a pot, go get some soil and plant a seed. Any seed will do. Whether you choose flowers, fruits or vegetables, you will be amazed at the variety of things you can plant this time of year. If you need inspiration, check out what to grow in winter (and if you happen to be enjoying summer in the Southern Hemisphere, we are sure you can find similar websites for your region or season).
Don’t worry if you do not have a proper flowerpot. Any container will do that you can pour water into and that holds some space for the seed(s) to grow roots. Even an empty, upcycled yogurt cup! And if you do not have the opportunity to buy potting soil from a garden center, just go outside and grab a handful of soil from a park, a roadside patch of green, or ask someone with a garden if you may fill your pot.
